In some previous post I said that Charla/Mirna is my least favorite team among the teams competing in The Amazing Race 5. But I shouldn't have spoken too soon. Last week, it became apparent that Colin/Christie is my least favorite team. Colin is an arrogant and pompous ass. While Christie is well an inch short of Colin's slave.
In episode eight, Colin tried to stiff the cab driver by paying him only 50% of what is agreed upon. He blurted, or actually shouted out some incredulous reasons surely for everyone within a mile raidius to hear that he can get away with paying only 50% of the fare if he so wants. Thankfully, the cabbie called a police officer to talk some sense out of Colin. But of course Colin won't go down silently. He ended up in the police headquarters, and there he told another version of the story to the station chief. Thankfully, the chief didn't believe him. The taxi driver decided to file criminal charges against him and so in the end the pompous ass was forced to give what is due to the cabbie. Of course, without the camera crew he would have been in jail for at least maybe enough time for them to miss their chartered flight to Kenya, or worse beaten by the driver and the police officers.
And to make it even worse, Christie was there all along trying to convince Colin to just give the driver the complete fare. And of course, Colin was blurting out some random comments like how Christie was making the situation worse by convincing him to pay up. In the later part of the episode Christie was actually the one who apologized to Colin. This with the effect of a resounding uproar of some women in alt.tv.amazing-race newsgroup.
I take my words last week back. Colin/Christie is my least favorite team. I hope they never made it to the two Philippine legs of TAR5. Or even if they did, I hope the locals (my fellow Filipinos) put him where he rightfully belongs. (This race was supposedly recorded from January to February 2004.)
